KOLAM
By definition kolams are geometrical line drawing composed of straight lines, curves and loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots.
To me, kolams are beautiful memories of home (India). They decorate the front yard of most home as a sign of welcome.
These patterns draw extra attention during festivals where there might be (un)spoken competitions on the streets, splashing vibrant colors into the symmetry, all in all, bringing people together.
Each pattern have their own meanings and the challenge is to get the symmetry and pattern right.
It is heartwarming to see that this art form has stood the test of time and is still prevalent among all age groups- both online and offline. Please do connect if you are also a kolam enthusiast.
